I was invited to attend and document a live shooter exercise held by the San Diego Police Department with the Building Owners & Management Association (BOMA). I was responsible for camera work and editing
the footage to create a video to be used as a training aid.
Sadly we live in a world where police departments need to practice searching an office building for a threat. This exercise allowed the police, fire departments, and EMTs to practice working together. Hollywood special effects were employed to make the casualties as real as possible for all involved.
This particular event included one other cameraman to help me cover the exercise (as it was taking place on multiple floors in an office building in Downtown San Diego). I had to stay with the shooter and then split off and follow the first response team as they performed their sweep of the building.
